Fareed Haque and Alhambra Guitars

Posted on in blog, home Comments Off

Travelling to Chicago was a great experience. A windy city surrounded by culture, jazz, blues, a beautiful bay and a very wide and clear beach. Walking its streets is like going back in time, being surrounded by its architecture is simply an art experience.

My time in Chicago was very limited, I went there to record Fareed Haque who was playing with “Math Games” his jazz fusion ensemble. The experience was one of a kind.

I must have to say that the music was an absolut journey into the universe music has to offer, Greg Fundis on the Drums, Alex Austin on the Bass and Fareed on the acoustic and classical guitars. It was just great. The played at Mayne Stage in Chicago, a cool looking location.

The main idea of the video I produced for Alhambra Guitars was to have a conversation with Fareed in the very short time we had between sets that night, it was chaotic since meant running up and down, looking for a “quiet” place in the bar/stage, set up in a minute and shoot. However, I’m happy with the video and Alhambra Guitars loved it! That’s what matters!

Ok, here’s the video for you to enjoy:

About Lily Vasquez and her new video Dejate Querer

Directing “Dejate Querer” by Lily Vasquez

I had a lot of fun directing and co-producing with Powerlunch Production the latest music video for latin pop artist Lily Vasquez and her song “Dejate Querer”.

The concept behind this video was high contrast. What I mean by this is black and white, red and green, wind and not-wind, studio and outdoors; the main goal was to introduce the artist and showcase her image with choreographies, closeups, medium and wide shots while keeping an upbeat that syncs with the song’s beat.

“Dejate Querer” talks about love, but love in terms of let yourself be loved without limitations or any other barriers, just love, be loved and feeling the freedom that this brings.

We worked with Barbara Muñoz who did an excellent job in the Make Up Magic Department. Her makeup just gave the perfect shine to Lily enhancing her beauty and gave to Alex the dark/rocker look we were looking for. Here’s a pic of him:

Lily did a great job with her performance, the choreography was set by Rachael Lynee and the dancers Hayley and Rachel (yes, the other one) are featured as well with a solo part in black and white.

I shot the video using a Panasonic HVX200 using P2 Cards in DVCPRO HD. Everytime I use this camera I’m amazed by the quality in color and the definition of the images. Color grading was very smooth and only used to enhance the reds and greens using Apple Color.

I want to thank everybody that made this video possible!

Ok, enough words, let’s the video speak by itself:
